Port Stephens Resort Nets Six State Industry Awards

PEPPERS Anchorage at Port Stephens has been named best resort at the State's hotel, motel and accommodation industry awards.

Five of the resort's staff received awards, including Paul O'Rourke (general manager of the year), Kylie Campbell (front officer employee), Nancy Price (food and beverage employee), Melissa Biscan (supervisor/team leader) and Daniel Linke (apprentice/trainee).

`These awards were particularly special because they recognised individuals who have excelled in their area,' Mr O'Rourke said.

Westbury's Marine Resort at Nelson Bay won the best short-break accommodation.

Dooralong Valley Resort claimed best conference/convention accommodation.

The Chiltern Lodge Country Retreat, at Old Bar, near Taree, won for most outstanding regional accommodation, best family accommodation and most outstanding regional property. Medina Group general manager Des Malouf won the Colonial award of excellence for individual contributions to regional tourism.

Chef of the year was Glen Findley, of the Moore Park Inn, Armidale.

The awards were presented at a dinner-dance at the Rydges Wentworth Hotel in Sydney on Friday night.

The Oncology Children's Foundation was a charity beneficiary of the night.

4 star plus ? Sundowner Hovell Tree Inn, Albury.
